Peets Hill Improvements

If you’ve been on Peets Hill in the past couple of months, you’ve hopefully enjoyed our recent improvements. You also may be wondering when others will be complete. We know the community is passionate about this beloved park and always want to keep you in the loop, so here’s the latest update:

Completed Improvements

Following the successful campaign to add 12 acres to the southern end of Peets Hill, we embarked on two phases of improvements to Burke Park:

  • Phase I (summer 2023):

    • Established two new scenic overlooks and an All-Abilities trail to the top overlook so all can enjoy the beautiful view

    • Extended the Chris Boyd Memorial Trail that winds down to Church Avenue

  • Phase II (fall 2023):

    • Improved the walking loop at the top of Peets Hill to be an All-Abilities trail to invite more people into this space

Thank you again to all who generously supported this project!

Medicine Wheel and Mountain Range Finder Coming This Spring

The much-anticipated Medicine Wheel and Mountain Range Finder installations at the top of Peets Hill will be completed in spring 2024. Originally scheduled to be finished this fall, the completion date has been pushed back due to a delay in receiving the metals for the bench backrests that will be silhouettes of the mountain ranges encircling the Gallatin Valley. Peets Hill visitors can see where the installation will be located, as the ground has been prepared for the pouring of the concrete base once weather permits next spring.

Thanks for your patience while we complete this installation designed to connect people to place—helping us deepen our understanding of the landscape through history and geography.
