The day before the summer solstice, Bozeman bike riders took advantage of every minute of sunlight as they rode from dawn until dusk for Saturday’s annual Longest Day of Trails event.
The event, co-sponsored by the Gallatin Valley Land Trust and the Gallatin Valley Bicycle Club, acts as a membership drive for both organizations, as well as a celebration of the local trails system.
“It’s fun, and it’s a great way for people to learn about the trails,” said GVLT executive director Penelope Pierce. About 15 riders gathered outside the GVLT headquarters behind the public library at 6 a.m., for the “Early Bird Loop,” which took the group down the Gallagator Trail to Sourdough Trail and Goldenstein Lane.
