GVLT Partners with Local Audubon Chapter to Help Kestrel Population
Sacajawea Audubon chapter members have been installing and monitoring American Kestrel Boxes in the Gallatin Valley for the last couple of years. GVLT partnered with the chapter in this effort and several of our conservation easement property owners have provided quality sites for nest box installation. The project this year resulted in nest box success, an effort that will help to boost the population of Kestrel in our area; which have experienced long-term population declines in North America. We are proud that the open space landscapes we have protected can host and protect this dynamic and diminutive falcon.
