“My work allows me to support and encourage the vision of people that have a passion for protecting the places they cherish.”
Peter has been working with GVLT since 2011 as the conservation easement Stewardship Manager. This position is responsible for enforcing GVLT’s portfolio of conservation easements, which includes 90 projects totaling 42,800 acres of the best wildlife habitat, prime agricultural soils, and scenic open space in the headwaters reaches of the Missouri and Yellowstone rivers. Peter enjoys helping landowners locate natural resource management information and reviews conservation stewardship projects in partnership with our private land partners. This research and relationship building has resulted in the creation of the electronic Stewardship Sourcebook on the GVLT website, and has led to a number of cost share and in-kind grants that allow GVLT to bring much needed stewardship support to our private landowners. Peter grew up on a family ranch in the Helena Valley; he spends his spare time exploring hidden Montana landscapes just off the beaten path.
