Conservation In Process: Open Lands Board Gives Preliminary Approval

Our community is changing, but some things don’t have to.

The Alberda Farm Conservation Easement, a 209 acre family farm in Churchill, is moving forward thanks to preliminary approval from the Gallatin County Open Lands Board. This proposed conservation easement is adjacent to another conserved property and is part of a large block of conserved agricultural land in the area. The family has been farming this land for generations.

Projects like this are made possible by funding from the Gallatin County Open Space Bond. A group of citizens serve on the Open Lands Board to determine the merit of proposed projects. This volunteer board is a critical part of our land conservation program and they’re responsible for moving great projects like this along. We’ll let you know when this project is complete.
