Lara Birkes (3)

“The natural wonders of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem are a global treasure. It’s a privilege to serve on the GVLT Board working to conserve open space, support rural ranching communities, enable trail access, and protect wildlife habitats. It’s a critical time for conservation, in a critical ecosystem, and I’m delighted to be collaborating with such a dedicated and passionate team.”

Lara is a sustainability and climate professional with over 15 years of experience managing partnerships, initiatives, and policy engagement with companies, international organizations, governments, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Most recently Lara was Global Head of Sustainability at Sonder where she established the corporate social responsibility (CSR) function pre-IPO. She also serves on the Advisory Board of EQX Biome, a start-up working to mobilize financial markets to protect the world’s remaining biodiversity hotspots. Lara came to HPE from the Virgin Unite Foundation in London working as Acting Director of Strategic Partnerships and Initiatives. Previously she was based in Geneva and led the Global Policy Affairs team for the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), driving engagement with international organizations, governments, and multilateral institutions. Away from work, you can usually find Lara in the mountains with her dog.
