The Gallatin Valley Land Trust, the city of Bozeman and Western Transportation Institute announced recently that they have pulled in some funding for improvements to the West Side Trail, which runs between Bozeman Pond Park and Gallatin County Regional Park.
The three groups received $167,000 from the Transportation Alternatives Program, which is funded by the Federal Highway Administration.
The money will go toward improving road crossings on the 2.5-mile trail. Some of the money will go toward improving signs, warning lights, mid-block crossings and curb ramps. Designing the improvements will begin this spring and construction is expected to start in 2017.
