Gallagator
Trail (1987) - This abandoned railroad right-of-way begins
at the corner of E. Story and S. Church. The trail heads south,
crossing Sourdough Creek and several streets, reaching the corner
of S. 3rd and Kagy Boulevard. The Extension Trail crosses Kagy
and circles around the Museum of the Rockies, then south to
Morningstar School, finally running along S. 3rd to its terminus
at Sacajawea Middle School. This trail is the best suited of
the entire system for use by persons with disabilities. |

Highland
Ridge Trail - Follow Highland Boulevard south past Bozeman
Deaconess Hospital and take note of the trail crossing at Highland
Boulevard directly north of Holly Drive. The trail can be conveniently
accessed from two locations, near the water tower at the end
of Kenyon Drive and off Kagy Boulevard, 1/4 mile east of the
Kagy/Highland intersection. The trail follows the perimeter
of New Hyalite View subdivision and serves as the connector
between the Burke Park Trail system and the Painted Hills Trail.

Painted
Hills Trail - Go south on Church Street, left on Kagy. Go
7/10 mile and turn right into a small parking area. Begin hiking
here. The trail crosses an intermittent stream drainage several
times and roads within the Painted Hills subdivision, until
it dead-ends at a fenceline. When landowner permission is obtained,
this trail will allow hikers to reach the foothills of Gallatin
Mountains beyond the Triple Tree Subdivision. |

Sourdough
Trail (1979) - Go south on Willson, left on Garfield. Park
at the Gallagator Trail crossing. Walk south and bear left on
trail which passes the duck pond and goes through the community
gardens. Cross Mason Street and follow path to Kagy Street.
Turn left on Kagy and right on Fairway Drive. Walk down Fairway
Drive until you come to the gravel drive and signs on the right.

Bird Spring Creek and into the wooded area along Sourdough Creek

Story
Mill Spur - Follow North Wallace Street to its junction
with L Street and watch for the trailhead maker on the north
side of the railroad lines. This community trail follows the
old Story Mill Spur for nearly a mile to Story Mill Road, across
from the historic Story Mill. Continue on Story Mill Road north
for 75 yards and the trail follows the old railroad right-of-way
to Bridger Drive. Cross Bridger Drive and follow the East Gallatin
Connector Trail to the East Gallatin Recreation Area. |

|
Triple
Tree Trail - Go south on Church and cross Kagy Boulevard,
at which point S. Church becomes Sourdough Road. Continue south
past Goldenstein Lane and the old water tank on the left until
you come to the Triple Tree Development. Go several hundred
feet past the turn-off until you reach a small parking lot on
the left. Park and follow the trails up a ridge, down through
the trees and up a second ridge. Make a right at the "T"
and continue following trail signs through a meadow and up into
Montana State Lands. A State Land Permit will allow you to continue
up the scenic overlook trail. Please stay on the main trail
to avoid trespassing on private land located adjacent to the
trail on the south and west. This is a wildlife rich area and
animals like elk, deer, moose, black and grizzly bear, and mountain
lions may be observed along the trail. It is extremely important
that you do not harass these animals and that dogs be kept on
a leash at all times. |

Chris
Boyd Trail (1999) - Go south on Church Street, until you
reach East Story and park at the trailhead on the east side
of Church. Enter Burke Park and climb the switchback trail up
Peets' Hill. The trail running north and south along the ridgetop
in Burke Park is named after the founder of GVLT, Chris Boyd.
Proceeding north on the trail will take you into Lindley Park,
and to the south are trail connections to the Simkins Spur Trail
and the Highland Ridge Trail. A public access point strictly
for persons with disabilities has been provided at Aspen Pointe
at Hillcrest retirement home. The retirement home is located
southwest of Bozeman Deaconess Hospital and is accessed from
Highland Boulevard. Two disabled parking spaces across from
the main entrance have signs indicating Burke Park Access. A
short unpaved connector trail running from the fire access road
to the main Burke Park trail is located approximately 150 feet
northwest of the designated parking spaces. The main Burke Park
Trail has a graveled surface and traverses varied terrain that
may pose difficulties for some persons with disabilities. The blue shaded area on the larger map indicates the area that the Bridger Ski Foundation grooms for cross country skiing. |

East
Gallatin Recreation Area (2001) - Go north on 7th Avenue
over Interstate 90 to Griffin Drive. Take Griffin east to Manley
Road and travel 1/4 mile north to the entrance of the East Gallatin
Recreation Area. A small trailhead parking area is located on
the east side of the road as you enter the developed park. The
trail running west from the parking area provides a half-mile
loop around the lake. To connect to the trails at the
Cherry River Fishing Access, take the spur trail that crosses Manley at the northwest corner of the lake, then follow the trails through the center of the commercial development on the west side of Manley.
The trail to the east of the parking area connects to
loop trails on both sides of the East Gallatin River. A trail spur at the east end of the East Gallatin Recreation Area connects to the Story
Mill Spur trail. Dogs are not allowed in
the developed park area near the swimming beach or on the lake
trail. The blue shading on the larger map indicates the areas of the Bridger Creek Golf Course and the Snowfill that are groomed for cross country skiing. |
